Myra asked me to post a new thread, so here it is.

Has anyone ever asked you a question that you dont like answering. I am sure this has happen to everybody.I dont like being asked, "How old are you". Of course, that is a question that is frequently asked here. Sometimes I feel awkard if I dont answer and I hope it doesnt annoy anyone, I dont mean to be rude. Let me explain why-

When I was in my 20's I didnt mind being asked, "How old are you" but as I got older it just reminded me that I was getting older, and it just made me feel "OLD". So I kept wondering, what can I say, that would not seem like I was being rude or just plain vain. I still have not come up with a good answer, but I am working on it. Its not that I am ashame of my age, but in chat rooms it is one of the things that attract people to chat with you.( this is just my opinion). If you have a conversation with someone face to face its different. Honestly, I look really young for my age. So,maybe one day I will be secure enough to tell my age, but for now its the one question I shy away from.

So now its your turn, when do you say "I hate that question"?

If you really think so, I havn't really understood why people do this ...

Being alive at any age is better than alternative , it's says something about your integrity .. Cheers

Umm.. I don't hate this question and I really don't have any interest in age , I am what age I am , can't change it , don't want to , I can't change myself into a sweet sixteen year old girl , I look young or old for my age who cares .I just intend to act how I feel not what age I am .

I've learned that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.

 Interesting post..

There should be many.. good news I can answer them all and if I got stuck or didn’t want to answer I’ll just reply  “ I won’t answer that sorry”… the occasions differ from one to another.. but I remember I was talking with my friend “ the dumped” and we were in really good mood till we opened this door.. I think ( or may be he asked) I asked him “ hey, how long will we stuck being singles? We are young and with best condition physically and mentally.. what if we lost  everything since we’ve been decided to marry at age of 30s…”……it’s just childish question but it really turned our nice night to depressed one 100%. .. I hated that question.

Hey Garima.. I think AlBridal has a point about the age, and I agree with her, since you’re still living your 20s, such question won’t bother you, things change..right?

For me it would be that dreaded "asl ".You meet this person for the first time and this is what is asked.
It usually makes me cringe and sometimes puts me off. They won't even give you time to warm up.
As far as I'm concerned, age has no bearing here whatsoever.I enjoy chatting with you for the fact that you are what you are, NOT because of your age.
If I were to say I was over 21 years of age, would you ask me more? Mind you,I'm happy and very comfortable with my age today ,tomorrow and even in 20 or 30 years to come.
By the way,I was told that to ask for someone's age is not considered good manners and some people even go to the extent of asking " What's your qualification" Hello! We are not filling out a resume here, are we?

I do hate this question. I don’t know what for they are asking this?!

If they know the age may get more enthuse to chat?. IS ASL is required while you are chatting ?
