Would watching a movie influence you to read the book it was based on? Like after watching Shawshank Redemption would you consider reading Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King?

Only if the movie is good. Actually, I read Lord of the Rings books after I watched the movies as well as a couple of Stephen King's horrors (1408, Mist) and Harry Potter...

Hello Bushee,

Nice thread you made, I hope it isn't late to reply, hehe...

In a metter of a fact, I only read book when I'm inspired by the movie.

I don't say that it is good manner, but that is me...

Last movie that I saw and made me to find and read the book in one breath was " The Reader ", a beautiful movie and book as well written by Bernhard Schlink. Finally, another view can be see in this romantic drama.

You will not regreat to see the movie and read the book as well,

Cheers,

I have read a number of books and then later when the movie is released would watch the movie and vice versa. There is this tendency to make a comparison especially in the plot, the story line, the portrayal of characters and the sequence of events.
The movie usually will have a few " add ons " or some changes here and there. But you can't deny the fact that the movie has this visual experience ( and audio too ) to offer you.

Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted.

I really can't read a book if I have already seen the movie based off the same theme. What I generally do is get a copy of the book before I go for the movie and try to read it.
