Well my dear TCPians,
What I can say about this is not short story, so if you have interest and patience to read, you are welcome.
Most energy drinks contain natural products such as guarana, ginseng, taurine and bitter orange. Caffeine and sugar are commonly present in energy drinks such as Cocaine, Pimp Juice, Red Bull, and Spike Shooter. I didn't find some negative effects associated with taurine, ginseng, and guarana also known as Brazilian cocoa, which is a source of caffeine in this kind of drinks. All kind of bitters have already proved their benefits on cardiovascular system. But commonly reported effects seen with caffeine in the quantities present in most energy drinks are insomnia, nervousness, headache, and tachycardia. And what to say more about sugar, it is converting to fats in the body and we are "fatty,"after. The amounts of bitter orange, taurine, and ginseng found in popular energy drinks are far below the amounts expected to deliver either therapeutic or better feeling. However, caffeine and sugar are present in amounts known to cause a variety of poor health effect and those are the main problem if we are overdosed with them.
The promotion of natural ingredients in energy drinks to supply increased energy, increased alertness, and improved athletic performance leave the average consumer wondering if it will be as "they" say and make concern among health professionals regarding the negative health effects associated with these products.
So, one of marketing skills is that enery drinks has natural ingridients as mentioned above, and on that card many companies play to sale their product but positive effects of them in medicine are still not confurmed... or good stuffs inside are in less amount that can deliver some benefet to the cosumtours. On the other hand, other two compnents, caffeine and suger can be dangerous if we are playing them hard. Caffeine has many physiologic effects, including stimulation of the central nervous system, heart, and skeletal muscles and possibly the press or centers that control blood pressure. But that happends when caffeine is used in a proper dose. Something similar happends with sugar in the enery drink. Sugar is good, even perfect. Glucose (sugar) is a major source of energy for the brain, red blood cells, muscles, and other cells of the body and is essential to the normal functioning of the central nervous system and the entire human body. Remember one think, the brain use only sugar so we need it desparately! But then again if we take it more then enough, serious medical condition can appear. So the combination of both can be positive but they are very good friends inside the enegry drink, they help to one another and we are getting more than we need.
Nevertheless, I'm not saying nor medicine can prove till now that thay are dangerous when they are using properly but we can't say that all of us can control ourselves when something is enough.
And next problem arises, modern combination of enery drinks and alchohol.
Mixing alcohol with energy drinks is a trend in bars and dance clubs. Apart from the dangerous effects this combination may have on cardiac function, people who ingest large amounts of caffeine (a stimulant) along with large amounts of alcohol (a depressant) may not realize the degree to which they are intoxicated. One study noted that participants who consumed energy drinks with alcohol felt fewer symptoms such as headache, weakness, and muscular coordination but were still impaired in terms of motor coordination and visual reaction time. As many people may use the physical symptoms they experience to judge their sobriety, the danger is that they may misinterpret their level of " I'm not drank" and attempt to drive a car or make other potentially hazardous things.
Energy drinks are also commonly used in conjunction with athletic activities. Improving associated with energy drinks comes mainly from the caffeine and, therefore, the use of energy drinks by athletes is a poor idea and despite these concerns, many energy drink companies specifically target athletes in their marketing efforts.
So, at the end lets make the simplest conclusion: if we need natural healthy stuffs, we can drink juices or eat fruit and vegetables; if we need caffeine, is there better source then coffee or tea with a friend? If we need sugar, is it something better then chocolate cake or Milka's pleasures, nah...And do we really need to be ever so drunk that we can't remember the night with the handsome guy or a pretty girl in the disco, nah...so lets drink coffee with big piece of chocolate cake and bitter orange juice after or later... as you wish, Ladies and Gentleman.
Energy drinks became popular in this crazy life style, when we are dealing with lack of time and energy to rich what is asking to be done. These beverages became trendy because people like to drink and not to be drunk which is not possible. They are very present around because the companies that make them wish to sale and it’s all about money, not for our best.
I had that tought moments too. Especially before the exams or lack of time to do something that you must…and you don't have energy to do that. My receipt helped me always, double douse of daily recommended dose of vitamins and minerals always made me fresher and with clear mind…but again we are all human beings, not a supermen, so nothing above our abilities is welcomed very often,
Take care,
Danijela
