“I voted for "Stalin and Hitler - similar personalities!" Too many people suffered because of them, in the former Soviet Union as well as in European countries.

My grand-grand father died in the World War II; my grand-grand mother was repressed and deported (even though she was Russian! - unfortunately, many people think that repressions were made to certain nationalities, and that Russians were not among them); five brothers of my grandmother died in the WWII... I wonder if there at all is any citizen of the former Soviet Union, regardless his nationality, whose forefathers were not affected by the terrible deeds of that time.

“As far as I know Hitler made a deal with Stalin that Soviet Union won't be attacking Wehrmacht during theirs planned invasion into the surrounding countries.”

Yea there was such an agreement named the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact.

Thanks for this post, Ruslana. Finally an option from the young Russian...

Your nation was suffering a lot during the WW II.

Since I can't edit my previous post again, I sent it by mistake and unfinished, I will post it again...:)

Thanks for this post, Ruslana. Finally an opinion from the young Russian...

Because you know, I see sometimes in TV reports from the Red square where groups of retirees are honouring him...So I was curious what the young Russians think about him. Like I said in my previously post, your nation was suffering a lot during the WW II. Like Polish people, for example. Thank god that the hardest fights in this conflict didn't take a place in my country...

Nice weekend to all,

Indeed, some people keep on honouring him even though his hands were in blood of so many people...

By the way, I feel sorry for Poland because Stalin and Hitler shared it just like a pie! I hope our *leaders* will never repeat such unworthy actions again. Though today they can't stop making unworthy actions of their own. *sigh*

As to Stallin, I remember an documentary about him where they said that Stallin sent a wife of one of his coworkers to gulag (because of her family I guess). Her husband was shocked and desperate, but Stallin said to him...:"Don't worry Aljosa, we'll find you another wife"...I think that says it all...

Well, I don't know who this "Aljosa" is but there is a well-known fact that Viacheslav Molotov's wife Svetlana was arrested due to participation in co-called "Jewish conspiracy" as Stalin thought... By the way, Molotov was the Minister of foreign affairs of USSR and one of the closest people of Stalin.

There is also a version: before committing a suicide Stalin's second wife left a letter dedicated to her husband where she accused him of repressions, famine etc. After that, Stailn repressed all her relatives. That's it.

JC, there is a good BBC movie "Who killed Stalin?" All those facts, versions, rumours are described in there. You should watch it - I'm sure you won't regret.
